The Shine Project {an inspirational giveaway!}

I'm soooo excited to feature Ashley, of The Shine Project

Ashley is FULL of inspiration, creativity, compassion and has great style :)

She blogs over at The Shine Project where she hosts weekly challenges, holds service projects all while inspiring and motivating us all.

And, in case that's not enough,
Ashley recently started a program called Change4Change

I have a first hand experience of seeing the struggles that inner city high school students go through on a daily basis. After working with them for my internship last semester, my heart was touched. There are so many kids that have SO much potential, and just need someone to help them see it. Well I've seen it, and I want to show them that they can accomplish hard things. This is why I started putting money from each shine necklace sold into the Shine Scholarship Fund.

My goal is to raise $20,000 for The Shine Project Scholarship Fund by the end of October. The money will specifically be going to four students at Cesar Chavez High School in Phoenix, Arizona, to help them pay for their first year of college. This will be accomplished in two ways. The first way is by doing CHANGE for CHANGE jars. You have the opportunity to get involved by pledging to do a CHANGE jar. I have tags to send you, and for the next three months you will throw your leftover change in this jar. Those of you who are brave will also get your friends, neighbors, and businesses around you to to show a little love and donate.
MY GOAL IS TO HAVE 100 OF YOU PLEDGE TO RAISE $100 BY OCTOBER.
If you think about it, $100 really isn't that much. But when 100 people ban together to make a difference, $10,000 suddenly is able to change 2 student's lives.

If you're not in a position to donate money,
Ashley is also collecting items for a silent auction that will be held on
October 20th
All proceeds will go directly to the scholarship fund
that will help send inner city kids to college.

If you are interested in having a Change4Change jar,
or would like to donate items to the silent auction,
please email Ashley at: Ashley.TheShineProject@gmail.com

Today, Ashley is giving one of you the chance to WIN one of her
Shine necklaces!

It's been awhile since I've had a chance to really practice a random act of kindness...but I'd have to say it would be seeing an expired meter outside my work and paying it for the person. I work at a university and our parking "nazis" are RUTHLESS! It always bugs me when I see people get tickets!

I participated in Ashley's sticky notes of kindness challenge. I really hoped that the notes I left made someone smile. :)

my random act of kindness is my husband and i buying some extra groceries for a family who were standing outside a grocery store. we bought the extra groceries without their knowledge and learned a bit about them first and then told them we bought some groceries to help them, after we left we saw a man who bought an extra pizza for that family, it really warmed my heart

My last random act of kindness was burying a small bird who had flown into our window and died. Most of my friends would have stuck the poor creature in the trash :(

A random act of kindness that I recently did was to purchase the meal of the person behind me at a drive through. It was small, but I thought that is something simple and just makes people have a smile on their face.

Inspired by the Shine Project, I left a bunch of sticky notes with words of encouragement all over our wal-mart. It is currently under construction/remodel, and most days it is a mad house. It was the week before school started, so I left a few notes that had good wishes for the upcoming school year.

I painted my mother in law's open porch rails/rung thingys for her so that when she came home the job was complete and she didn't have to do it that evening. A lot of work. But so great to see her face.
