I know I'm not alone
{well, at least I hope I'm not}
when I say that we face entirely too much pressure.
Too much pressure to have the perfect body
the perfect hair,
the most expensive clothing,
the biggest house
and the nicest car.
To much pressure to be the perfect wife,
the best mom,
the most wonderful daughter.
A perfect person.
I am so quick to compare myself to others.
People I know, and people I see on tv or in magazines
{heck, even people I follow via blogging}
It's a tough world out there,
and I'm learning that the more I compare myself to others,
the more I'm dissatisfied with my own self, and my own life.
And really, that gets you no where.
That ideal of perfection doesn't exist.
No one has their life perfectly together.
I say we strip away the layers.
The layers of perfection, that really don't exist.
The pressure we allow ourselves to feel,
and the standards we hold ourselves up to.
Because, when you get down to it,
you're all you've got
and if you can't love and respect it,
who will?
You have special qualities that make you...YOU!
Weather it's your smile, your hair, your personality, your laugh.
There's something about you that makes you, uniquely you.
Find something about yourself that you can honestly say you love,
because that's a good start.
{and I'm not saying it's easy}
I'm really just getting to a place where I can say that I like something about myself,
and I must admit,
it feels good!
I want to enjoy life.
I never want to look back and wish I would've spent less time worrying about how I measured up, and what people thought of me and more time enjoying the beautiful things in life...things that bring happiness and positivity.
So that's what I'm doing.
Starting now.
Focusing less on what others think, and how I compare.
And just...being.
Enjoying the moment, spreading love and positivity.
Start a new trend, and believe in yourself.
If you tell yourself something for long enough, you'll start to believe it.
So tell yourself positive things.
Starting now.
